Jewellery Care 101
How do you care for your jewellery?
Don't forget that your little ornaments (particularly silver and crystal/stone pieces) need special care to keep them feeling new and fresh, just like us! I like to view jewellery care as two different levels: the physical/surface cleaning, and the deeper, energetic cleansing. To me, both are equally as important in ensuring the longevity of your trinkets!
~ Surface Cleaning ~
For sterling silver jewellery, I like to use either natural soaps and an old toothbrush to gently scrub until shiny, or if the piece is very tarnished/oxidised a soak in bicarb soda/water paste will often do the trick!
If they're really banged up though, I will often do a proper clean and repolish with my tools (which is available free of charge for any Lunare pieces btw)
~ Energetic Cleansing ~
My go-to cleansing maintenance is simply leaving my daily jewellery on clear quartz or selenite plates or slabs. Additionally, cleansing with sage, palo santo or incense is also an easy, meditative and jewellery safe idea!
It's also important to:
- Avoid wearing crystal jewellery in water (or research to ensure it's safe)
-Avoid applying skincare products and perfumes when wearing jewellery
- Note that the skin's oils actually help to keep silver shiny! it's often only when jewellery is taken off that it begins to oxidise and tarnish
Whatever you choose to believe, don't forget to take good care of your jewellery, so that it can take good care of you for years to come <3
